Challenge 2000 Poole Radio Society - G4PRS
To mark the year 2000, members of Poole Radio Society are challenged to make 2000 contacts between them. Starting at 0000hrs GMT on January 1 2000, the challenge runs throughout the whole year to 23:59hr GMT on December 31 2000. The rules are as follows:
Any member of Poole Radio Society is eligable to take part, and all contacts are valid towards Challenge 2000, with the following provisos.
For a QSO to count towards the Challenge 2000 total, the QSO must be using either the Club's callsign of G4PRS, or the club member's own call sign.(No nipping round to another {but non-club member) station just because he has a better HF station).
Each club member is encouraged to copy the whole QSO detail from his, or her individual logbook into the Club's Challenge 2000 Logbook.
Each station worked on one band, cannot count again towards the Challenge 2000 total unless it is on another band or mode. But if both stations are club members, then both of the stations may claim that contact.
For instance, on 144MHz two stations (say G7TCS and G1TEX) establish a QSO using simplex FM, then both G7TCS and G1TEX may'claim' it in the Challenge 2000 Logbook. After that though the two stations must use another mode on 144MHz (SSTV, AM, SSB, Packet, PK31, RTTY etc.) before both can claim another QSO on 144MHz with each other.
If the QSO is through a repeater, data node, or 'earth-based' BBS then this also may be claimed by only one of the stations, even if both are club members. This means that if a club member contacts another club member through an FM voice repeater, then he cannot claim a contact with a further club member through the same FM voice repeater!
That means that contacts though GB3SC on 144MHz and GB3SD on 430MHz can only count once for each club member. This leaves GB3WR, GB3WD and GB3SN only to be used on 144MHz.
All club members are encouraged to take part - even the virtually silent (in radio terms at least) G1TEX throughout the whole of the year 2000.
Get the QSOs going - that's Challenge 2000!
